At Lehigh Valley Drug & Alcohol Intake Unit (LVDAIU) our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized care to individuals and families affected by drug and alcohol dependency. Our Staff Finds You the Support You Need
Jenny Duval, CEO
Early in her career, Jenny provided critical support to children removed from their homes, offering respite care, life skills, and parent support services. Her experience and dedication led to her hiring as a bilingual intensive case manager at the Lehigh Valley Drug and Alcohol Intake Unit, where she helped individuals with a language barrier access treatment and connect with crucial community resources. Jenny developed a passion for working with legally mandated individuals suffering from substance use disorders earned her a leadership role as the coordinator of the Northampton County Treatment Continuum Alternative to Prison Program (TCAP), a program aimed at providing treatment alternatives to incarceration.
Driven by personal reasons and a passion for addiction services, Jenny returned to school and shifted her focus to substance use treatment. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling, and is a certified ICAADC (Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). During her studies, she completed her internship and clinical hours with an outpatient treatment provider, working as an addictions counselor, running group sessions, and conducting individual therapy for clients in recovery.
As CEO, Jenny leads with a vision of improving access to care and supporting recovery for all individuals. Her leadership ensures that the Intake Unit continues to be a trusted resource for those in need of comprehensive, compassionate support on their recovery journey.
Keith Smith
Program Director of Change on Hamilton
Keith Smith has dedicated his professional career to the field of drug and alcohol addiction. His journey began as an addiction technician while pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Clinical Counseling from DeSales University.
Upon graduation, Keith embarked on a successful career as an Addiction Counselor, serving clients in both Bucks and Lehigh Counties for over 15 years. Driven by his passion for helping others, Keith transitioned to his current role as Program Director at Change on Hamilton in the spring of 2022. He has been instrumental in leading the recovery center and making a positive impact on the community, providing vital services to the community.
Yalexa Duran
Clinical Supervisor
Yalexa’s journey in the drug and alcohol field began during her pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Her early experiences involved conducting drug and alcohol evaluations and providing case management services, laying a solid foundation for her career.
Graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Yalexa’s passion for serving others deepened, particularly for those impacted by drugs and alcohol. The satisfaction of helping others further shaped her decision to continue her journey in the drug and alcohol field.
Yalexa has held various roles within the drug and alcohol field, including assessor, counselor assistant, case manager, and currently is the clinical supervisor, overseeing the assessment department at Lehigh Valley Drug and Alcohol Intake Unit. Driven by her desire to lead and make a positive impact, she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Psychology of Leadership, which she anticipates completing in 2026.
Christina Lichtenwalner
Program Coordinator for Journeys
Christina has been a dedicated professional in the drug and alcohol field since 2006. She has held the role of assessment specialist, doing the vital work of assisting people in accessing treatment services and other resources. Christina has also worked as a substance abuse counselor in both inpatient and outpatient settings, delivering individual and group counseling, while supporting clients with navigating the criminal justice system.
Throughout her career, Christina has taken a special interest in the needs of women and caregivers of children, recognizing the unique challenges they face in their recovery process. In her current role as Program Coordinator for Journeys, a newly established program, Christina has been instrumental in its success. She has actively worked to reduce stigma and improve access to resources for this underserved population.
